MLK vs Malcolm X

Civil Rights Timeline Project 

The Civil Rights Movement is incredible to learn about. Students must know about the hard work of many individuals as they fought for equal rights. So, when teaching about the 1950s and 1960s, this project has everything needed to excite students! 

Specifically, students will learn about the main events of this period. This includes the murder of Emmett Till, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the March on Washington. After learning about twelve essential events, students will create a timeline to illustrate the Civil Rights Movement. They will include a two-sentence response describing the event. Then, they will write a sentence or two describing the importance of the event and its impact. This project is an amazing way to teach students about the fantastic work during the Civil Rights Movement. 

There is even a rubric and sample project for easy grading.
